Annabel Hales

Annabel provides counselling and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults, for individual, couple, and family sessions. Annabel has over 15 years’ experience working in a range of settings, including non-government roles, the Department for Child Protection, and the Family Court of WA. Annabel completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Murdoch University (a long time ago!) and her post-graduate Masters qualification in Counselling Psychology at Curtin University. Annabel has a special interest in women’s issues and brings to her work wisdom, warmth and compassion. Annabel’s life experience has given her the courage and sense of humour to share the highs and lows with others.

My Experience

Annabel uses a variety of evidence-based techniques in her therapeutic work including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic, Interpersonal Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Annabel also uses neuroscientific techniques to facilitate exploration and embodied change. In addition to her specialist qualifications, Annabel uses a wide range of tools to support her clients to access their innate wisdom and understand their relational defenses with greater compassion. Disconnection can lead to unhappiness, isolation, emotional shut-down, tiredness, and can result in physical and emotional health problems. Reconnecting to our innate wisdom requires a safe and powerful experiential approach which goes beyond just intellectual understanding.
